Up to 4 of the 25 positions offered this year are categorical Anesthesiology positions consisting of PGY-1 training, from July 2007 through June 2008 and PGY-2 (Clinical Associate 1) through PGY-4 (Clinical Associate 3) training, from July 2008 through June 2011. The PGY-1 portion of the categorical program takes place at Mercy Medical Center of Baltimore and is essentially equivalent to the Preliminary Year Training Program in Internal Medicine. Separate application to the Mercy Medical Center program is not necessary for those wishing to be considered for categorical Anesthesiology positions. The great majority of positions offered by the Department are advanced Anesthesiology positions consisting only of PGY-2 (Clinical Associate 1) through PGY-4 (Clinical Associate 3) training, from July 2008 through June 2011. Applicants for these positions must arrange their own PGY-1 training.
