Yes, a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) inspection can be performed for Dearborn residents and business owners ONLY. There is a $20.00 fee which must be paid to the Dearborn Police Record Bureau prior to the inspection being performed (call the record bureau 313.943.2230 to obtain their business hours). Once paid, retain the receipt and stop at the police desk to arrange for an officer to inspect the vehicle at the police station or at the resident’s home/business. You must obtain the necessary TR54 (green form) from the Michigan Secretary of State. For inspections of large commercial trucks, contact the Police Motor Carrier Unit 313. 943.2294 for more information.
