A Our fairings have the same finish as the outside of a typical new fiberglass boat or similar fiberglass product. The short answer is that the finish is a glossy black gel-coat and does not require paint. See our photo gallery for images of the unpainted fairing. That said, our polyurethane paint with clear coat is tougher, more scratch resistant, and longer lasting than any gel-coat finish can be. Our customers generally have at least the front facing outer portion of the fairing painted to match the paint color of their bike. Some with black paint choose not to do so as it is a pretty close match to the factory black color and at a glance people don’t typically realize it’s unpainted. But you should be aware that upon close inspection you can see that the gel-coat finish is not as deep looking as our polyurethane paint job with clear coat which is wet-sanded and polished to a deep luster.
