Does the County Attorney have a diversion program for speeding tickets and other traffic citations?

No. We do, however, offer amended tickets, only for speeding citations, where an individual meets the following criteria: • Driver was not using a radar detector at the time of receipt of the citation • Driver was not speeding in a construction zone at the time of the receipt of thecitation. • Driver was not traveling in excess of 15 m.p.h. over the speed limit. • Driver has not had any other tickets of any kind, or diversion for anyticket, within the last 2 years. • Driver does not hold a commercial driver’s license. If you would like to make an application for an amended ticket, s/he will need to do the following things: • Get a copy of your driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles in Topeka. The phone number for that Department is (785) 296-3671. Out of state licenses need to be obtained from the DMV in the licensing state or you may go online or to a law enforcement agency.
