Does the color of the insulation affect the R-Value?
The color of the insulation has no effect on the R-Value of the insulation. The color is created by introducing a color additive to the binder of the product. Insulation in its natural state is almost a pure white. During the manufacturing process a binder is added to give all the loose fibers some body. Then manufacturers introduce their favorite color additive as a part of the binder.
