The City of Plano is not a participant in the Social Security System and, therefore, does not deduct Social Security taxes (FICA) from any employee’s wages. Note that your Social Security benefits may be reduced as a result of this. Due to a change in federal law, all employees of the City of Plano starting to work on or after April 1, 1986, are required to contribute to Medicare. A contribution of 1.45% of salary will be deducted from each of an employee’s paycheck. The City of Plano will also contribute 1.45% for the employee to Medicare.
