Does the City of Pinellas Park levy franchise fees and utility taxes?
Franchise fees are levied on a utility to operate within the City and use City rights-of-ways for locating pipes, wires, etc. The franchise fees are as follows: Cable TV 5%, Electric 6%, Gas 6%, Telephone 1%. The state allows utilities to pass on this fee to customers on their bills. Utility taxes are levied on utility bills and are paid by the utility purchaser. The utility taxes are as follows: Electric 10%, Natural Gas/Propane 10%, Telephone 7%, Water 10%.
