Does the chat room allow private messages?
Some chat rooms allows users to private message each other, and very often admins and moderators cannot see these messages, that is why it is sometimes best (especially with younger children) to find chat rooms that do not allow private messages, as then the moderators see all the activity. Is the chat room real time or pre-moderated? If a chat room is real time, then moderators/staff can only take action after the text has been entered, and sometimes this is not suitable for children, therefore it might be a good idea to find a chat room that requires a moderator to approve all messages that people enter (however these are quite rare) So if you cannot find a decent pre-moderated chat room find one that has a filter list, that replaces words that are offensive with ‘censored’ or similar.
