Yes, the cervical cap and spermicide combination offers potential protection from some STDs such as gonorrhea , chlamydia and trichomonis by providing a mechanical barrier and a bactericidal/viricidal effect. Protection from transmission of HIV, Hepatitis B is less likely. This method affords no protection from STDs such as herpes or genital warts (condylomata).
