Neither program offers such a specialization. However, the business of biotech is well represented in the program. Three courses, Health Technology Policy, Health Technology Finance and Strategy, and The BioBusiness Speaker Series, were recently developed with student input. Students also run the thriving Haas Healthcare and BioBusiness Club, which holds firm nights to connect students with industry executives and makes “tech treks” to gain firsthand insight into such firms as Roche Diagnostics and Genentech. Two Haas lecturers teaching courses on bioentrepreneurship, Haas School’s Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation provides support for business plan competitors and often hosts events with a biotech focus, and the Haas Healthcare and BioBusiness Student Club organizes an annual highly successful roundtable dinner with leading venture capitalists and entrepreneurs and a networking event over wine and cheese.
