Does the Canton Police Department have a Youth Explorer program?
The department runs an Explorers program for high school age residents interested in a possible law enforcement career. The program strives to give Explorers as much real-life law enforcement experience as possible. Explorers receive similar training as police officers, including defensive tactics and more. Scenarios place Explorers in real-life situations where they must attempt to resolve a problem either verbally or with an arrest. Explorers use the knowledge and skills to compete each year against other Explorer groups from around Michigan in the Governor’s Cup.
