Does the “Canadian Inferiority Complex” stem from Canada geographical relation to the USA ?
Actually we don’t have an inferiority complex. You can think that if you please though. As a Canadian, I take pride in knowing Canada may be small population wise and on the international stage we may not be as strong as the USA but being twice as popular as the USA in all accounts across the globe. Face it, only people who suffer any Inferiority Complex would be the majority of Americans who believe the USA is #1 and will always be #1. Plus, Americans should; considering history in that the USA had plans for, and even tried to annex Canada failing miserably.
It’s actually quite obvious. Canada has 10% of the population of the USA. You have 10 times the media viewers in the USA compared to Canada. Per capita, that says TREMENDOUS for Canada. But the sheer population difference between USA and Canada explains why among other things, 1) US sit coms get watched by 10 times the number of domestic viewers as Canadian sit comes. 2) US top scientists and engineers and doctors emerge out of a larger tank of applicants than can Canadian ones. YET Canada catches up despite this. 3) Because the US has more consumers, many retail stores have more competitors which means more price competition. This makes Canadian retail prices higher on Canadian buyers, even when the US dollar falls. 4) The US gets to claim tropical climates, hot dry climates, Canada’s warmest winters are not so tropical and that’s misty Vancouver, 5) I guess the US purchase of Alaska adds some inferiority to Canada in that it doesn’t have sole title over the arctic in North America ei
