Does the cabbage soup diet plan really work?
I personaly have tried this diet. It did not work for me, and I was sick of eating the cabbage soup. It was a pretty tasty soup the first few days, then it was very boring and unsatisfying for me. I have found over the years and my many diets, that the best diet is following the food pyramid and portion control. Here is the soup recipe if you would like to give it a try.
Cabbage Soup
- 1 package dry onion soup mix
- 2 bouillon cubes, either chicken or beef
- 1 celery stick (not the whole stalk), diced
- 1/2 head green cabbage, diced
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 6 large green onions, or 1 large yellow, white or purple onion, diced
- 2 cans of tomatoes, diced or whole
- Cooking spraySalt, pepper, parsley, garlic powder, soy sauce to taste (or any other seasoning you like)
1.Spray a large pot with cooking spray and saute all vegetables except cabbage and tomatoes until tender.
2.Add cabbage and about 12 cups of water.
3.Toss in bouillon cubes, soup mix, and seasonings.
4. Cook until soup reaches desired tenderness; add tomatoes.
Note: You may encounter some gastrointestinal discomfort from the highly sulfurous cabbage and other gassy vegetables.
