Does the building program address all or most of Gwinnett’s classroom needs?
A. The building program will allow Gwinnett County Public Schools to build almost 2,000 needed classrooms. However, it will not provide enough classrooms to meet all of the school system’s housing needs. School officials hope that about 75 percent of the classrooms needed could be built in the 2002-07 building program. With enrollment continuing to grow for the foreseeable future, it is almost certain that another five-year building program will be needed to get the school system where it needs to be in terms of adequate numbers of classrooms for the student population it serves.
