Generally, No. There is no doctor/patient relationship. IME is strictly a fact finding matter. Most often the claimant is sent to an IME by an insurance company or an employer for evaluation. The physicians opinion is rendered to the insurance company or employer not the patient. The place for complaints regarding IME’s is best handled through the Workman Compensation Office.
