Does the birth control pill cause abortions?
Yes, by making the environment in your womb hostile to implantation. Since the birth control pill is not 100% effective, there will always be a certain amount of pregnancies that result even though the mother is using the Pill. After conception, the baby travels to the uterus and attempts to implant into the uterine wall to continue growing. However, if the uterine wall is made too thin (a documented effect of the Pill) the baby is prevented from attaching and so is expelled. This abortifacient effect is documented in the literature of all birth control pills by the manufacturer as well as in the Physicians Desk Reference.
