Does the Bible seem to stretch “The Truth” about Jesus?
I think that you have stretched a little yourself. First off, you appear to be trying to combine Matthew and Luke’s gospels. Matthew’s gospel has no one travel to Bethlehem, Jesus’ parents already live there. In Matthew’s gospel, Magi give gifts to the newborn child. Magi, by the way, were the high priesthood of the Zoroastrian sect who were well known as astrologers during that age. Historians such as Herodotus wrote extensively on them. Luke has Jesus’ parents travel to Bethlehem for a census where they stay at an inn. It is strange how there is no record of this census in Roman documents since they kept track of all of their census taking. They also mention no requirements ever to uproot families to send them on a giant “chinese fire drill” across a country in order to take a census. Also, in Luke’s gospel, it is shepherds that visit the newborn, not Magi. I guess that Luke doesn’t like Zoroastrians. My point is this: This “nativity” play that you have probably portrayed on at least
