Does the Bible put women subordinate to men in marriage because the devil is a good-looking charmer?
No. And technically it doesn’t put women beneath men, either. It says that the man is expected to be the head of the home – meaning, be the one to make sure everyone’s fed and has a roof over their head. It doesn’t say “….because women are too weak and pathetic to do that job”, or “because God thinks better of men” or anything like that. The Bible actually says that, before God, men and women are equal. He doesn’t prefer one over the other, and He has expectations of, and roles for, both. People get all hung up on “it tells women to submit to their husbands! EEEEVVVIIIIILLLLL!” and don’t actually take the time to read what is being said, and what it says about men and marriage as a whole. It’s not nearly as one-sided as people make it out to be, but it’s so much easier to remain ignorant and angry because then they’ve got a handy excuse to write off the entire book.
