Does the Bible forbid the use of musical instruments in singing and praising the Lord?
No. In Psalms 149 and Psalms 150 it is a command (not a suggestion) to sing and praise the Lord in the congregation of saints and in his sanctuary with musical instruments. Trumpets, guitars (psaltery), harps, tambourines (timbrel), stringed instruments, organs (flutes), and even loud cymbals are listed. Jesus never came to destroy the Old Testament He came to fulfill it. Also, trumpets are involved when God’s judgment is poured out. For example, in the Old Testament–at the battle of Jericho and in the New Testament–the seven trumpet judgments in Revelation chapters 8-11. Best of all there will be a trumpet used to announce the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”( I T
