DOES THE BIBLE DEFINE BAPTISM?
Yes. In Col. 2:12 it reads, “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” Also Romans 6:3-4, “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Baptism is a burial, an immersion in water. Sprinkling or pouring will not do. C. DOES THE BIBLE GIVE EXAMPLES OF BAPTISM? Yes. In Acts 2:37-41 we have an example of about 3000 being baptized. In Acts 8 we read of the Nobleman from Ethiopia. Again in Acts 16 we read of the conversion and baptism of the Philippian Jailer. In fact, if you will read the book of Acts you’ll be given a very vivid picture of many people being baptized in harmony with the Lord’s commands. D. DOES THE BIBLE SAY WHAT BAPTISM IS FOR?
