The producers win the coveted Best Picture Academy award. The number of producers is limited to three, however, to avoid people attempting to jump on the bandwagon and receive an Academy Award.

Yes, I understand the rule states that the movie’s producer(s) are actually awarded the prize. The rule that only three producers can accept a best picture Oscar was designed to prevent the award’s being shared among too many producers who didn’t deserve the title.
