Does the benefit system reward the lazy and bone idle?

Hi Andy I understand your anger. The benefits system is a safety net for those without visible means of support. If you have above a certain level of savings then you cannot access the safety net. I get steamed up about this as the safety net becomes a permanent support for some. Particularly for those who would only achieve the minimum wage if they worked. They cannot afford to take paid employment as the benefits system pays more than low paid employment. For people in this situation there is no incentive to work. There is the incentive to reproduce as this will attract more benefits. It is an absolutely ludicrous system and continues into retirement. I have always worked and have a small private pension as well as the State retirement pension. Guess what? I cannot claim all the entitlements that other pensioners can claim and the list is almost endless!! Loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, pension credit ad nauseum. What is the point of anyone working and saving if we are then
