Does the band often take a great word and decide to make a song around it?
MI: Absolutely. Some of the lyrics are deep and mean something to me, and some of them just sound nice. I saw a documentary on ABBA, and Bjorn said the same thing about Take a Chance on Me. He said to himself take a chance, take a chance, over and over again. He thought it sounded good, so he wrote about it. It s the same with our Like a Lady. It sounds cool when you say, Like a lady. VH1: What s the strangest thing you ve encountered over here? MI: I think L.A. is pretty strange. It s so shallow. All they think about is how old you are. After a show we did at the Viper Room there was a big discussion about how old I was. Some people thought I was 17, and other people thought I was like 30. One girl said to me, Can you smile really hard? I want to see if you have any wrinkles. Is that a big thing for you guys? VH1: I ve never heard of that before.
