FYI baking soda does NOT whiten teeth. The whitening agent in teeth bleaching systems is the hydrogen peroxide. But regular hydrogen peroxide is not strong enough to do any bleaching at all. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide needed to bleach teeth is too high to be sold over the counter. The recipe you referred to is an excellent way to promote healthy gums, however. The baking soda reduces the acidity of the mouth and the hydrogen peroxide provides oxygen to the gums which reduces inflammation caused by periodontal disease or gingivitis (gum inflammation).
