Apple System Profiler does NOT report the L2 cache correctly on most processor upgrades. The cache software provided by XLR8, Powerlogix, and Sonnet, is accurate. Also, NewerTech’s Gauge Pro will properly report L2 Cache size (under Mac OS 9), it is avaialble for free download in the OWC Tech Section here.
