Does the Amazon Kindle work out of the USA?
The Kindle “works” anywhere outside of the US, but you cannot purchase or download material to it outside the US, so you would have to come here and stock up (it will hold up to 200 titles). I have heard that they do not accept non-US credit cards for purchases. The Kindle cannot even be shipped outside the United States from Amazon. However, U.S. owners traveling abroad have the option of managing their Kindle purchases via PC and can then in turn download items from the PC to their Kindle. The downloads are based on wireless cellphone type transmission, so it won’t work in any other countries than the us; even in the US, there is no wi-fi ability in Alaska and Montana for the Kindle. Sorry if this disappoints you about the Kindle!
