Does the airline take hang gliders?
Don’t take a quick no. If the airline agent in the first wave tells you “no,” ask to speak to a supervisor. Most airline ticketing agents don’t even know what a hang glider is and their standard lists of oversized luggage don’t mention them. So it’s easier for them to just say no. The supervisor has usually received more training in satisfying customer needs and will try a little harder to get the real answer. Can your glider (short packed, of course) fit on all the planes your flight will be using? Call the airline. Ask about all the planes for all the legs of your flight. They will likely refer you to the luggage handling office of the airline at the airport you will be flying out of (both directions). Usually you will have to tell them the length and diameter of your glider (short packed) and they will tell you if it will fit.
