does that replace the Pile Driver from the older games?
Yoshitomi: As you may know, in Boktai you would take down the vampire and then drag his coffin to the Piledriver to purify it. This time, however, we wanted to do something a little more exciting, so we’re having the player take it into space where we purify it not with the Piledriver but with something called the Purifix. It’s more exciting and a lot more dramatic. We even have an in-game animation which shows how the Purifix works. 1UP: So there’s no more dragging element to the game? Yoshitomi: Right, it’s been replaced by the rocket now. You take out a boss and the casket flies in and says, “Let’s get going.” You have to get all the way through three shooting parts before you get to the purification part. [demonstrates video] This is in Japanese so the voices are all Japanese, but in the U.S. version the voices will be English. 1UP: That puts you one-up over Mega Man ZX.
