Does that create pressure for the band to create single?
AT: No. We never had pressure from anyone from our label. We love writing songs that are poppy and catchy, so it’s not like we had pressure to do that because that’s what we like doing anyway. We never had anyone saying, ‘Hey, that’s not poppy enough’ or ‘I don’t hear a single.’ We never heard that. R: Kind of touching on that, how much involvement has your label, RCA, had in directing the band musically? AT: They’ve never had any involvement in that. They’ve never ever commented on our music other than [to say] that, ‘Hey, that’s the single’ or ‘That’s a great song.’ They’ve never said like, ‘Hey, don’t put that one on the album’ [laughs]. They’ve never said, ‘Hey, go back and record some more songs because these aren’t working.’ They’ve never said that.
