Does Thailand have similar interviewing techniques as in the west?

These can be quite comical in Thailand. If a potential employee is looking for a job they will have an interview with the prospective manager and often this is with a foreign boss. Sometimes the potential employees have never interacted with a foreigner before and can be quite nervous. I have seen interviews for waiters in restaurants were the manager has talked them through the menu and then performed a role-play exercise ordering a Hawaiian pizza only for the poor individual to write down Ham sandwich. They are unused to the whole idea of having to perform and sell themselves – you are supposed to see their talents for yourself in their minds.
