This is somewhat a matter of opinion. So in my opinion, text to speech is probably one of the greatest beneficiaries of artificial intelligence techniques developed decades ago around the topic of natural language processing. AI has been tagged negatively for many years because it was so heavily hyped and then didn’t meet expectations. But there have been substantial yields based on techniques behind the AI approach, and one of them is speech synthesis.
