Does temperature affect charge performance?
If so what changes need to be done to correct those effects. Temperature does have an impact on performance of a shaped charge. All charges are rated over time at a specified temperature (normally at some value for 1 hour). A charge that uses RDX powder will begin to gas off or breakdown after the recommended values have been exceeded. When this occurs the charge performance will drop significantly or not detonate at all. The remedy is to employ a charge that uses HMX as its main powder. The composition of this style explosive allows it to withstand greater temperatures for longer periods of time.
