Does taking another step forward entail raising the bar on applicants credentials, scrutinizing GMAT scores, GPAs, and types of professional background?
Walker: I would say every year we want to improve that mix. I don’t think we’re that bad, really, right now. But we have areas of [possible] improvement. [For example,] we’re a central U.S. school and I think we’re going to try to concentrate on making [recruiting] inroads on both coasts. We’ve already got some good contacts, but we still need to invest more time and effort [recruiting] on the East Coast and in California, and so forth. Q: Two years ago, just under 50% of the school’s MBA students were from the regional Southwest. Peter, with that kind of in-state student make-up, I would imagine that a lot of placement opportunities are local. Has that been changing? Veruki: Yes, and that’s the big reason I’m here.
