Does synthetic leather in sofas soften over time?

Not as much as you think. What usually occurs is that divets are created in the foam or batting underneath the pleather which makes it “feel” like the cushion is softer. But, because pleather is synthetic, it is unlike real leather in that it was never alive, doesn’t breathe or wear like its natural counterpart does. There are “conditioners” you can buy that add a layer of moisture to the surface which takes away some of that stiff feeling.
