Does SxC script works with After Effects 7 or earlier ?

No, the SxC script needs After Effects CS3 or newer because of some scripting access issue with text layers in earlier versions. CS3 users are advised to upgrade to CS4 or CS5, and cannot create widgets with text. CS3 support is deprecated in current versions of the script.
