I didn’t experience any diarrhea or other side-effects when switching to grain-free with either of my dogs. However, it’s a fact that some dogs just don’t respond well to some foods! You may not necessarily want to switch him back to his old food (although if you did, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, since he’s been doing well on it), but if you’re set on grain-free, you may want to consider a different grain-free food. I just recently switched foods (one grain-free to another grain-free) because one of my dogs started having frequent diarrhea on her usual food, at least once every few days. Before a vet visit (which would have been necessary if the diarrhea persisted), I tried simply putting her on a different food. Within literally a day of switching, her stool was completely back to normal, and she hasn’t had diarrhea even once since I made this switch 4 months ago. This was one grain-free food to another, and both even had similar ingredients (both fish based), but one
