Does survival no longer require cooperation/compromise/conciliation? Is cooperation obsolete?

In many ways, cooperation and compromise are even more ingrained on an individual level because there are very few people in the U.S. who survive from A-Z completely on their own without cooperating in some system of trade involving others. I think it’s safe to venture that most wouldn’t even know how. If you look at it another way, opportunity for financial autonomy provides a level of independence unknown to those who struggle daily to meet the most basic of human needs. On a national level, cooperation and compromise are prices paid for participation in a globalized economy. When everything is broken down to the most basic of levels, one must still cooperate and compromise with Mother Nature in order to be most effective and productive, so, with regard to survival, declaring cooperation obsolete seems like a rather tough sell.
