Does structural engineering involves architecture too?
Engineers must work closely with architects to ensure that the building performs the way it is designed, both structurally and aesthetically. In my structural design experience, I’ve encountered many situations where the architect wanted something in his design that was not possible for one reason or another (usually money is the limiting factor), and so the architecture needed to change. I’ve also had many situations where the architecture required me to provide an unusual, creative way to make an architectural feature perform structurally. The more engineers and architects undersatand one another and communicate effectively, the more talented and efficient they become.
