Does street crime drop during cold winters?

In general YES, it does. This is not to say it is always under all circumstances true, but it has bee an accepted, documented fact that in general, crime rises in warm weather, and tapers in colder weather. The reasons should be obvious. It is NOT an urban myth. A 2004 study done by some folks at Harvard, Brigham Young University and the University of Califonia states, “Criminologists have long recognized that weather is strongly correlated with short-run fluctuations in crime, with hotter weather generally associated with more crime and inclement weather associated with less crime”.
