Does Steam adds bargain top-sellers lists to store?”

Valve has brought forth a new feature for the Steam store adding a top 20 sellers list for games under $10 and under $5. The inclusion gives users the ability to browse the most popular (sales wise) lower priced offerings on the digital distribution network. Essentially, the new function allows users to peruse which bargain/smaller games, sales and DLC are selling. To qualify for the under $10 list, the game or add-on’s current price has to fall between $5.00 – $9.99. To qualify for the under $5 list, the game or add-on has to run at $4.99 or less. Not a bad idea, especially with the inclusion of sales, for example: Plants vs. Zombies ($10 normally) is number one on the under $5 list on the strength of its 50% off Midweek Madness sale. Since the discount takes PopCap’s title to $4.99 it qualifies for the smaller priced list. Of course, once the sale is over, the game will revert back to its $9.99 price and will then appear in the under $10 list if it is still in the top 20 at the time.

Steam Adds Top Seller, Bargain Lists Valve Software has traditionally been tight-lipped about the sales figures for digital games store Steam. However, starting today, the Steam website has a weekly top seller list. The top seller list is part of a tabbed menu on the main page of Steam. While it doesn’t mention exact sales figures, it still gives you an idea of the hottest games on the service. The top-selling game of last week is, unsurprisingly, Valve’s own Left 4 Dead. You might notice another new tab on that menu called “Specials.” That section lists all of the current discounts on the website. As regular readers of our site have already notice, Steam offers a lot of discounts and, thankfully, now they’re a lot easier to track.
