Does StarHub MaxOnline provide dynamic IP or Static IP ?
All home use Internet are dynamic IP. MaxOnline is dynamic IP. Dynamic IP means your IP number will be changed. It is similar to someone visit Japan and he can’t use his GSM phone. He has to borrow a phone from Operator. Every time he visits Japan he may borrow phone with different number. When computers are connected to each other, they will inform their IP number to each other. And data can be transmitted. Dynamic IP support email, web browsing, FTP, Messenger. Almost all internet users are connected with dynamic IP. If customer want to host internet service, they need additional service from www.dyndns.org. A small program will be installed into customer’s computer and it report IP to dyndns’ server. If anyone looks for the customer’s PC, dyndns server will inform them what the latest IP is.
