Does Standing Watch: the Fire Towers of Arizona, include directions to each fire tower?
We enjoyed visiting each of the towers and talking with the lookouts. However, some of the lookouts have experienced some challenges with the anti-social behavior of a few visitors. For their safety and peace of mind, we leave it to the employees of local ranger stations to give directions to the towers as they choose. Visitors may buy a Forest Service map and trace the route to many of the towers. If you choose to do so, please understand that it is at your own risk. Please understand that even if you arrive on site, the lookout may choose to bar visitors from his or her tower for reasons known only to them.
