Does stainless steel rust?
Stainless steels are characterized by a high content of Nickel, that helps form a protective coating on the surface against corrosion as experienced by iron and steel. However there are some conditions under which stainless steels can corrode. These include situations where water rich in chlorides is stagnant on the surface for an extended period of time.
