It all depends on the condition. If you floor it while your back wheel is stuck in mudd, then yes, your chances of getting out are reduced. The wheel can’t “catch onto” anything in that scenario. But on the highway, during a warm day and the ground is dry, that pavement is suited for your car tires. So the grip is optimized, and you can go as fast as your tires can take you. BUT, take for example, people who like to burn rubber and floor it at the beginning of a race….the tire is going too fast to get enough friction to actually move. Friction is a funny thing. On ice, a car will not gain control no matter what, yet with ice skates, you have plenty of friction. So I guess it all depends on the gear.
