Does SPD in pregnancy get any better?

0

I suffered terribly with SPD during my third pregnancy. Certainly, the pain lessens if you rest and is aggrevated by certain activities (I found doing the hoovering a killer, as was carrying shopping). I found that our mattress wasn’t helping (very hard) and I couldn’t get out of bed to go to the loo without my knees bucking with the pain, but we bought a memory foam mattress topper which really seemed to help. By 7 months I was on crutches, and spent the last 4 weeks in hospital (not because of the SPD). Strangely enough, once I was in hospital with nothing to do the pain really did subside and I only needed painkillers at night! So I would say that if you return to physical work, the pain is likely to return.
