Does software companies keep Black list of candidates in India ?

One of my friend appeared in interview and selected for Chennai based software one of the top 20 Indian company. Process of joining got little delayed and he got offer from other company so he joined there. Concerned persons from other company told him that he will be put into the black list. I made my friend understand that there is nothing like black list and one can’t be black listed for not joining the company.
