Does social skills training work for Aspergers syndrome?
Okay – I am MARGINALLY qualified to answer this question — I usually don’t answer questions unless I know a lot about the topic (I have about 45% best answers – this is not a game for me – I like to help people.) That said, I am NOT familiar with workshops or formalized training for Asperger’s. However, a few years ago I had a student diagnosed with this syndrome. His parents were really nice people, met with all of his teachers, and asked us to encourage the boy, and monitor his progress. We became much more sensitive to this issue. Three years later (this was middle school) he displayed great improvement. He even had a few lines in the school play, and worked on the school news show. So – I hope that helps, and offers you some encouragement. I don’t know if the school is working with you or not.
