Does Snorple increase the load on Etsy and increase Etsys bandwidth usage?
Every attempt is made to minimize the load that Snorple places on Etsy. Snorple restricts each update session to a few stores and spreads the task of updating all the stores over a period of an hour. Each photo is updated only after first verifying that Snorple doesn’t already have the photo. Since photos are rarely sent, it takes far less bandwidth to update a store than would be required for a buyer to look at the store. Since both text and photos are stored at Snorple, there is no load on Etsy’s resources when people use Snorple to view Etsy stores. Enabling people to search for interesting stores without using Etsy’s resources means that people use Snorple’s resources until an interesting store is found. Snorple reduces the load on Etsy. Snorple and Etsy are independent companies that are not related to each other in any way.
