Does sneep require special permissions?
In general, any user can retrieve the values stored by sneep. Superuser permission is required to set any values in the eeprom and system configuration files. There are exceptions to this, of course – The Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER platform wants you to have special privilege to read its serial number, but once the serial number has been set into eeprom by sneep, you can get it back from eeprom without special permissions. There is more detail on this later in this FAQ in the section on Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER. To read the serial number on the F15000/F25000 System Controller, you may need superuser or sms-svc privilege.
