Does smoking really cause impotence?
The last two decades of research have shown that tobacco use can cause impotence, and it can worsen impotence caused by other conditions. Impotence, often referred to as erectile dysfunction (ED), is the inability for a man to maintain an erection for sexual purposes. It is caused by the inability of blood vessels in the penis to provide enough blood to maintain an erection. Tobacco use negatively affects blood vessels throughout the body—not just in the heart and arteries, but even in sensitive areas like the eyes and genitals.
